About

Welcome! My name is Scott Verzyl. I am beginning my fourth year as director of undergraduate admissions at USC-Columbia, the flagship university of the State of South Carolina. I am responsible for promoting the university to prospective students (such as yourself) and evaluating candidates for admission. I manage the undergraduate admissions office, which is made up of an energetic, talented and friendly staff of people that love helping students and their families. In addition to my duties as Director of Admissions, I also teach UNIV 101 each fall to new freshmen.

I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but it hasn't taken me long to become an adopted Carolinian. My wife Holly and I have three children, Maddie, Sophie and Zach. We live in Columbia and are members of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. I enjoy many sports and outdoor activities, including tennis, golf, basketball, skiing and riding bikes. We also love to travel, and really love the beach. Fortunately, South Carolina has plenty of beaches.
