About

Hey everyone! My name is Lydia (Sue Byrd on the basketball court) and I’m a junior at USC all the way from Lutz (pronounced like loots), Florida. I generally just say Tampa though since Lutz doesn’t have a dot on the map. I have lived in there in the same house my entire life. I chose USC based on their #1 ranked International Business program and the feeling I experienced the moment my family and I stepped on the Horseshoe for a tour the summer before my senior year of high school.

Let’s see…what would you want to know about me? I am a very passionate and outgoing person! I love meeting new people everywhere I go – this includes anything from places on campus (dorm, Russell house, Strom Thurmond) all the way to standing in random lines and at sporting events. I also enjoy being involved!! I am very active on campus with my fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. In college, there are co-ed fraternities and mine is known as a Professional (Business) fraternity. This year I am one of three Spring Fling chairs planning a huge event in Georgia for brothers across the nation this upcoming April. I am also active in a range of intramural sports. I play indoor soccer, flag football, and volleyball in the fall. Basketball is my year-round sport and you will definitely catch me on two teams in the spring semester.

Je parle français bien. I have been learning French since I was in 6th grade and after studying abroad this past summer in Tours, France I became addicted to French music. The French love American music (especially rap) but they also have some great artists such as Diams, Kool Shen and Vicky Lou. Before my study abroad experience in France, I was also able to spend 2 weeks in England on another school trip! I highly encourage everyone to take the time to study abroad…I’m hoping to go abroad my junior year again.

I should probably also mention I’m a Resident Mentor (RM) in Capstone! I love this opportunity which is a paid job but definitely seems more like community service. Resident Mentors help students transition to college life and have personal relationships with each resident on their hall! There is a lot of community bonding throughout the year and RMs help hold students accountable for their actions so that everyone has a successful school year.

Well to finish up…I’m a hardcore Gamecock fan! You will see me decked out in Garnet and Black at all the football and USC Men’s basketball games! I’ve even started broadening my horizons to soccer and baseball games!! Sporting events are probably some of the best ways to spend time with friends!

Well, enjoy the blog…feel free to comment and ask questions at any time. Have a great school year and good luck with all of your upcoming decisions. Just remember: USC ROCKS, GO COCKS!
