Hello everyone. First off, I would like to simply introduce myself. My name is Cory Jenks, and I am a third year pharmacy student from Tucson, Arizona. As you can tell, I came a long way from home to come here, but I feel like a made the right choice without a doubt. Some of my activities here at the University include being an Orientation Leader this past summer, which, if you decide to come here, you will get to experience firsthand, as every freshman must come through Orientation. In addition to being an Orientation Leader, I am involved in an honor society called Alpha Lambda Delta. We do community service projects and volunteer on campus. In addition to the community service I do with ALD, I am also the intramural chair, which basically means I am organize, sign up, and am the captain of all the intramural teams that we participate with. This year, so far, we have played flag football, indoor soccer, and volleyball. Along with my ALD intramural teams, I am the Captain of an intramural softball team. This is one my favorite activities, as I met some of my best friends from this team that we formed last year. It also helps quench my appetite (somewhat) for the hole left from my high school baseball days. As you can see, I am active on campus, mostly revolving around my interests in sports. While I have found getting used to life on campus fairly easy, there was something that coming in as a freshman I would have liked to have known. I was unsure how to best find out what was available on campus for me to get involved. Luckily, there is a website here at http://web.sa.sc.edu/ that provides a way to search for student organizations. Also, there was a student organization fair within the first few weeks of school where the organizations set up tables outside of the Russell House (our student union) on Greene Street. This is just one of the ways USC helped to get me, and can help you get involved on campus. Anyways, I look forward to your questions and comments so that you all may have an easy time learning about the University.
